ABOUT THE ARTIST

Lyndon Willoughby is an illustrator and graphic designer from the North Dallas area. Since graduating in 2012 from Abilene Christian University (BFA) Lyndon has created a variety of illustrated work with an emphasis on silkscreen print. From 2022 - 2026 he worked at legendary game developer Bungie on famous looter-shooter Destiny 2. Lyndon's focus on the Destiny 2 team began in Visual Design with a focus on UI, and grew into a Senior Artist role where he was tasked with the creation of visual identity elements and icon suites for use in the game world, in the UI, and for Destiny 2 expansion releases.  Past clients include Disney and Lucasfilm Animation, and frequent collaborations with prominent pop-culture art producers such as Bottleneck Gallery, Spoke Art and Cyclops Printworks.

RECOMMENDATIONS

I've worked as Art Director with Lyndon on Destiny 2: The Final Shape, Edge of Fate and additional unreleased work. Lyndon was one of my go to people when it came to fleshing out the branding of different factions, map locations, logos for releases and solidifying lore through visual design. He has increasingly become part of our world building and was essential in many of our concept and ideation sessions, as he brings ideas and visuals that push our amazing artists to create believable, tangible worlds. Any team would be lucky to have such a driving, creative artist.

___

I worked with Lyndon on Destiny 2 as his UI Visual Design Lead, and then collaborative partner when he stepped into the Icon Artist role.

What stood out most to me was how much he thought about the work as worldbuilding. He wasn’t just thinking about making graphics for a screen. He was thinking about how the work could add to the fantasy of the world and make everything feel more cohesive. He also had a really good sense for what did and didn’t feel like Destiny. He was often one of the people pushing us to stick to the core visual principles of the game and think about the long term health of the aesthetic, not just what worked for one feature in the moment.

Lyndon is a really talented designer. He has a great eye for graphic design, uses a wide range of graphic design techniques, and consistently makes work that feels polished and thoughtful.

I'd gladly work with him again.
