THE BARANT IMPERIUM

Emerging as a new threat during the events of Destiny 2: Renegades, the Cabal Barant Imperium boasts a mighty war fleet under the command of the villanous Premier Lume. In a stark contrast to past factions of the Cabal, the Imperium is distinguishable as having cleaner interior spaces and a rounder iconographic style, all taking inspiration from the Galactic Empire of the Star Wars saga. It was important to create a unique visual identity for the Imperium which remained consistent with past Cabal visual language while also being completely new and unique at a glance.

The primary icon for the Barant Imperium was inspired by the Imperial Seal of Star Wars fame, filtered through the lens of the Cabal which have traditionally employed large, chunky forms in their legionary branding. With the knowledge that the Renegades campaign would be largely set within Imperium warships and bases, it was necessary to create a suite of associated icons for the Imperium which would read as being linguistic or semiotic in a functional sense. These decals were developed with the intention of providing options which would read cleanly at a variety of sizes within the game world.
